Talk about a weird way to emulate your heroes: Some random dude threw a hot dog at Tiger Woods during a golf match in San Martin, CA on Tuesday and claimed that he was inspired by Ryan Gosling’s latest movie, Drive.
According to US Weekly, 31-year-old Brandon Kelly’s first thought after seeing Drive was, “I have to do something courageous and epic. I have to throw a hot dog on the green in front of Tiger.” So this is what he did: During a match at the Frys Electronics-sponsored tournament, Kelly shouted Woods’ name, presumably to get the golfer’s attention, and then hurled a hot dog onto the green. He was subsequently arrested for disturbing the peace.

Tiger, for his part, says that he didn’t feel threatened at all during the incident because Kelly was so far away from him. He heard a bit of a ruckus behind him, and by the time he looked up, the dog was already flying. "The bun was kind of disintegrating there," he told the Associated Press. “[Kelly] knew what he was doing because he laid on the ground, put his hands behind his back and turned his head away from security. So just one of those deals."
Alas, Kelly did, however, cause Tiger to miss his 18-foot putt.
Parting thoughts? I will quote Dan Diggens, head of security at the tournament: "It wasn't a chili dog. That could have been really bad."
Yes. Yes it could have been.
