Now I'm not usually seen hobnobbing amongst the fashion fabulous. But a few nights ago I was lucky enough to attend the Chadwick Bell Fall 2012 press preview! There was champagne, good conversation, and gorgeous (I mean beyond gorgeous) clothing. I'm not worthy!

I chatted with the California-born designer, who has worked with fashion icons like Carolina Herrara, and discussed his inspiration for his fall line, titled "Midnight Rose." He drew from post-modern photography and early paintings, as well as the idea of the strong yet vulnerable woman. The collection is for “the perfect woman in the most imperfect situation.” I think we can all identify with that! After looking over his inspiration board, I could see its connection to the line. And trust me; every single piece is to die for. (editor’s note: because Chadwick is showing during Mercedes Benz fashion week, Nalissa wasn’t allowed to shoot photos of the models).

The collection was a blend of classic simplicity with all out fabulousness! Even a fitted leather jacket managed to read edgy and sophistication in one piece. Each article is approachable and wearable. Mixing textured fabrics with bold reds, greens, and neutrals, Chadwick does an amazing job of designing garments that scream sexy without tipping into vulgarity. I was in love! The collection is intended to replicate a flower itself, as each piece will gradually unfold as it comes down the runway.

The event was fantastic and I even got to leave with a handmade leather rose! I just might wear it with every single thing in my closet.

Chadwick Bell will show his fall collection at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week on Thursday February 9th at Lincoln Center.
